Services/Programs

The fundamental mission of Casa Angelina is:  To Assist Those In Our Community With Particular Needs

In order to achieve this goal,  Casa Angelina provides the following programs:

1) We provide temporary living arrangements for both female and male inmates who have completed their sentences and fulfilled their obligations to society,  but are not being released because: a) they lack a D.O.C. (Department of Corrections) approved address, or b) they don't have family members who can shelter them, or c) the State lacks transitional housing facilities for them.

2)  We provide temporary living arrangements for the homeless, along with rehabilitation assistance for those willing to accept the services afforded by A.A (Alcoholics Anonymous) and N.A. meetings
3)  We assist the indigent by referring them to different organizations  available to them of which they are unaware or have limited access to such as:  medical, dental, vision specialists, legal aid services, food and shelter resources,  spiritual advice, counseling, and free clothing.

4)  We provide legal assistance with immigration issues to those in need through The Innocence Project which has roots in New York City, but with volunteers here in New Orleans.

5) We provide access to free, confidential  H.I.V. testing with a twenty minute result turnaround, thanks to the No Aids Task Force, and assist with medical services in case of a positive outcome.

6)  We provide free translation services in three languages: Spanish, English, and Portuguese.

7)  We provide food baskets to needy families as available.
